DIY - Jewellery Gift Bags

Hi Everyone!

If you follow my Instagram or Facebook you will have seen the huge amount of jewellery I have been making lately. Whenever I sell any of my jewellery I like to package it nicely in a box or bag but I have been running out of little gift bags. I spend an afternoon sewing heaps of little gift bags and thought I would share with you how to make these! The are super easy to sew and only take a few minutes for each one!

Supplies:

-Fabric - I used plain black, thick cotton fabric
-Ribbon - thin is better
-Scissors
-Thread
-Sewing Machine (or you can hand sew)
-Saftey pin
-Ruler

1. Cut out a rectangle. When folded in half it will be the size of your bag. Make sure to leave space for a seam. Mine was 17.5 x 10.5 cm.

2. Fold down the top of the rectangle the width of you ribbon. Sew along the edge.

3. Fold in half right sides together and sew around the open sides. leave top open and only sew up to where you last stitched so you can still put the ribbon through.

4. Cut off the bottom corners being careful not to cut the stitching and cut down the top seem on the folded side to the stitching without cutting it.

5. Turn bag through right way.

6. Measure the length of ribbon a bit longer than the bag, double this length and cut it. Cut another the same length.

7. Thread one of the pieces of ribbon through the seam on both sides of the bag. A safety pin makes this easier. Tie the ends together.

8. Thread the other ribbon through the top in the opposite direction of the last one.

Done! These are super easy to make and I can make heaps in just one afternoon. These are perfect for packaging my jewellery and would also be good for all types of gifts and things.
